Sewage Treatment Plant
- Recycling wastewater is necessary. Hence Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) installation is done.
- Treated water is appropriately utilised for watering the plants throughout the VMKVMC&H campus.
- The design capacity of STP- 380 KLD with an average flow of 380m3 /day.
- The volume of the collection tank of 179m3 is adequate for 4-6 hours of average flow.
- Head loss is less than 0.15m in the screen chamber. Hence the size of the screen chamber is adequate.
- Two aeration tank is provided with a total volume of 162.03m3 and a secondary sedimentation tank area of 30.03m3.
- After removing sludge, the water is collected in a separate collection tank and then sent to a pressure sand filter with a flow rate of 5.21m3 /hr to remove suspended particles and to a carbon filter with a flow rate of 5.2m3/hr to remove odour.
- Filtered water is collected in the pump and is taken for the entire gardens of VMKVMC&H.
- Adequacy certificate for sewage treatment plants was given by the department of technical education, Tamil Nadu. Government College of Engineering,
- The capacity is adequate to treat the design flow of 380 KLD.
