Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College, Salem, established in 1995 and affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu, became a constituent college of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (VMRF) in 2004. Located in the rural area of Salem, South India. The institution spans a vast area of 51 acres. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs with 23 well-established departments recognized by the National Medical Commission.

Facilities and Infrastructure
All departments are well-equipped with adequate space, ICT-enabled, and air-conditioned lecture halls featuring the latest audio-visual teaching aids. The institution has both internal and external quality assurance cells to promote the quality of academic, administrative, and research activities.
Research and Development
We encourage our faculty to engage in research activities at both national and international levels, providing incentives and funds as per the research guidelines of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (DU). In the last five years, we have conducted four national and international conferences, and our faculty have published over 400 papers in high-impact national and international journals. The Medical Education Unit conducts faculty development programs periodically to train young medical faculty according to the norms of the National Medical Commission.
Student and Faculty Programs
We regularly conduct professional development programs, student mentoring programs, and extracurricular activities. The institution also organizes co-curricular activities such as seminars, workshops, and CMEs every month. We conduct periodic medical camps and NSS programs in rural, tribal, and urban areas in and around Salem and neighboring districts. Additionally, we regularly update our curriculum and teaching methodologies for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
NAAC Accreditation
In 2015, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation underwent the NAAC Accreditation assessment process and was accredited with A grade. Our institution contributed effectively to this assessment, fulfilling all criteria and submitting a comprehensive analytical report and departmental inputs. The strengths of our institution, as highlighted above, significantly contributed to the accreditation outcome.
